Nintendo shows the new look of Diddy Kong, validated by its original creator

Nintendo has published a new image of Diddy Kong on its official website, offering a better look at the character’s redesign for the Switch 2 era. It shows Diddy clinging to Donkey Kong’s shoulder, also redesigned.
The first glimpse of this new Diddy was a low-resolution image published recently. This new visual confirms some of the changes, although the character’s cap is not yet fully visible. It appears to feature a new round badge with its own logo, replacing the old Nintendo logo.
Kevin Bayliss, creator of the original Diddy Kong design at Rare, hailed the new version on X, thanking Nintendo for respecting his original work. He had already approved the new Donkey Kong when it was announced in April, on the occasion of the reveal of the game Donkey Kong Bananza.
Bayliss also commented on the criticism of the design changes, saying that the evolution of the characters was natural and positive. He recalled his involvement in the 3D renderings of the Donkey Kong Country era and invited fans to welcome the new look.
