With the Switch 2, Nintendo is offering third-party studios and publishers an alternative way of selling their titles. They can use a key card, which simply contains a license to download the complete game.
For its part, the Japanese manufacturer has no intention of using this method to sell its Switch 2 exclusives in physical format. In an interview with IGN, Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser stated that "we currently have no plans to use game key cards for Nintendo-developed titles".
First-party titles will therefore be stored on 64 GB cards for the Switch 2.
