Nessa Diab Slams Jay-Z, Roc Nation, and Desiree Perez Over Handling of Colin Kaepernick’s Protest SEO Headline: Nessa Diab
*Nessa Diab, longtime partner of Colin Kaepernick, has entered the ongoing controversy involving Jay-Z, Roc Nation, and its CEO, Desiree Perez, with pointed accusations tied directly to the NFL protest that made Kaepernick a cultural icon.
As Ice Cream Convos reports, her statement followed rapper Nicki Minaj’s public criticism of Roc Nation. Diab used social media on Thursday to support Minaj’s claims of behind-the-scenes sabotage by the entertainment agency, stating she experienced something similar when Kaepernick was effectively removed from the NFL after kneeling during the national anthem in 2016.
“@NICKIMINAJ exposing the smear campaign tactics that Jay-Z, Roc Nation, Desiree Perez did to her behind the scenes is VERY similar to what I was told they did to @Kaepernick7,” Diab posted.
Diab alleges that Jay-Z’s 2019 NFL partnership, which included a $25 million deal over five years, was designed to “bury” Kaepernick’s protest against police brutality. She claims Roc Nation accepted $5 million annually to help the NFL “move beyond the controversy around teams’ unwillingness to sign Kaepernick.”
She also criticized a statement by Jay-Z, who said, “I think we’ve moved past kneeling,” during the NFL deal announcement, a comment that drew widespread backlash for dismissing Kaepernick’s activism. Diab noted that she called out these actions years ago, adding, “I called them all out YEARS ago and so many people were scared to say it publicly, but would tell me how they agreed with me privately. Smh.”

Diab referenced Perez’s criminal past and controversial pardon by President Donald Trump. “She got her pardon by Trump—no coincidence the NFL owners are his buddies and also donated millions to his campaign,” Diab tweeted. She highlighted Perez’s quote: “We love that everybody wants to be on the stage, that we’ve completely changed the conversation to fighting for it versus boycotting. We’ve come a long way.”
Diab remains steadfast in her boycott of the NFL, declaring, “I still don’t watch that league or whoever is performing at whatever game they have playing. #stillwithkap #FOREVER.”
