*R&B singer Jaheim, known for hits like “Put That Woman First,” was arrested earlier this month in Fulton County, Georgia, facing six counts of animal cruelty.
According to Ice Cream Convos, the 46-year-old artist, whose full name is Jaheim Hoagland, is accused of failing to provide adequate care for six dogs, identified as Tweet (Pit Bull Terrier), Tip (French Bulldog), Taka (Hound Mix), Tink (Pit Bull Terrier), Timber (Pit Bull Terrier), and Tanger (Pit Bull Terrier). Court documents allege that the dogs lacked clean water, proper ventilation, and sanitary living conditions. Hoagland was released from Fulton County Jail the following day, but the charges have sparked widespread concern, especially given his prior legal troubles involving similar allegations.
This is not Jaheim’s first encounter with animal cruelty accusations. In September 2021, Jaheim faced animal cruelty charges in Hillsborough, New Jersey, after authorities discovered 15 dogs in distressing conditions at his residence. Police found six dogs in outdoor crates filled with water and feces, one of which was unresponsive and later euthanized.
Inside the home, nine additional dogs, comprising 12 mixed-breed Pit Bull Terriers, two American Staffordshire Terriers, and one mixed-breed Boxer, were found emaciated, lacking food and water. Hoagland was charged with third-degree animal cruelty and failure to provide necessary care, with the dogs transferred to a local kennel for examination. The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office continued investigating the case.
The recurrence of these allegations has fueled outrage among fans and animal rights advocates, who are demanding accountability. As one critic on social media put it, “At this point, Jaheim isn’t fit to care for a goldfish, let alone a dog.”
The singer has yet to comment publicly on the latest charges. Jaheim’s legal team, the city attorney, and animal welfare officials are expected to address the allegations in an upcoming court proceeding.
