Monkey Fruit Fight is a fast-paced competitive platformer that’s high in vitamin-C

- Monkey Fruit Fight is coming soon to Android
- It’s a 1v1 competitive platformer intended for family play
- Send your opponents flying by flinging fruit and leaping out of harms way
The world of competitive platformers is a surprisingly packed one on mobile, as last week’s launch of Ultimate Chicken Horse aptly demonstrated. But while that had a somewhat lacklustre response critically, it may be that Monkey Fruit Fight succeeds where Ultimate Chicken Horse ended up faltering.
Which is doubly impressive considering that Monkey Fruit Fight is developed not only by a one-person development team, but a self-taught team at that. Andreas taught himself all the necessary coding, including server infrastructure and animation. And that passion certainly shows in the fast-paced, competitive platforming of Monkey Fruit Fight.
Put simply, Monkey Fruitfight is a fast-paced 1v1 platformer where your aim is to knock your opponent out of the running with all manner of fruit-flinging weaponry. Leap back and forth and take on your opponent in rapid-fire 100-second matches, perfect for a wait at a bus stop or a subway ride.
No monkey business
The observation that Andreas made when he sent us the info about Monkey Fruit Fight is that most family releases are typically more intended for adults, with maybe space for children who are already skilled with gaming. But Monkey Fruit Fight is intended to defy that.
In truth, I can see plenty of merit in that idea. Often, family gaming is pretty much just Nintendo and little more (at least as far as the public is concerned). And with its relatively simple gameplay, fast pace and friendly but charmingly retro graphics, Monkey Fruit Fight has plenty to offer players both young and old.
There are still plenty of options out there if Monkey Fruit Fight is just a bit too charming and old-school for you, though. Why not check out our list of the top 25 best platforming games on iOS and Android to find out what we think is best?
