*As the criminal trial against Sean “Diddy” Combs kicked off in New York on May 12, the music mogul received support from his family, including ex-partner Misa Hylton, six of his seven children, and Diddy’s mother, Janice Combs.

Hylton, a noted fashion designer and mother of Diddy’s eldest son Justin, entered the Manhattan courthouse using a walker. She was there, her lawyer Nicholas Ramcharitar said, not for Combs, but for the children, USA Today reports.

“Misa’s appearance and her attendance at Mr. Combs’ trial is strictly in support of her son Justin and his siblings,” Ramcharitar explained in a statement. He added that Hylton is temporarily using a walker due to a personal injury.

Inside the courtroom, Diddy’s children sat through disturbing testimony from prosecution witness Daniel Phillip, a male escort who detailed multiple alleged coerced sexual encounters involving Combs and his ex-girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura. According to Phillip, Combs orchestrated the events, sometimes giving direction mid-act, and provided drugs, money, and explicit instructions, allegedly turning the encounters into controlled performances. Phillip recalled being told to “use more baby oil” and claimed Cassie appeared visibly traumatized.

As the testimony unfolded, Diddy’s daughters Chance, D’Lila, and Jessie, exited the courtroom twice, reportedly disturbed by Phillip’s graphic recounting of a moment when Combs allegedly masturbated in a corner while watching the escort and Ventura.

In a joint statement released after their father’s 2024 arrest, Diddy’s older children defended him, pushing back against public scrutiny. “The past month has devastated our family,” they said. “Many have judged both him and us based on accusations, conspiracy theories, and false narratives that have spiraled into absurdity on social media. We stand united, supporting you every step of the way.”

The charges against Combs include sex trafficking, racketeering, and transporting individuals for the purpose of prostitution. Federal prosecutors have accused him of orchestrating “freak offs” events — described as choreographed sexual gatherings where women were allegedly coerced into acts while under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Emily Johnson described one incident in which Combs allegedly instructed a male escort to urinate on Ventura during a private session. The prosecution argues that these events were not spontaneous but carefully planned by Combs, who allegedly controlled everything from the lighting to the participants.

Combs has denied all allegations and pleaded not guilty.
