Microsoft will replace those laid off on King with AI tools

Among the more than 9,000 redundancies announced by Microsoft, hundreds concern the company’s gaming division. In fact, 200 King employees ended up being dismissed.

Mobilegamer.biz claims to have had access to several sources to get a grasp on the reasons behind the redundancies at the studio responsible for Candy Crush. A large part of the staff is to be replaced by newly-created and trained AI tools.

The London-based team responsible for Farm Heroes Saga has been cut in half, with around 50 people leaving, including senior staff. Human resources are said to have mainly targeted employees who had expressed their dissatisfaction internally. After consulting the unions, King will present a new organizational chart in September.

Finally, an internal survey reveals that morale is currently at an all-time low among King’s teams.
