Lesbian Teen Viciously Attacked & Robbed At McDonalds After Trying To Use Women’s Bathroom

A 19-year-old lesbian was simply trying to go to the bathroom at a fast food joint when she was brutally attacked by two men.
Speaking to LGBTQ Nation on Monday, Kady Grass revealed she was visiting Carpentersville, Illinois from her hometown in Delavan, Wisconsin to see her grandparents and attend her 13-year-old cousin’s choir concert last Tuesday, May 13. After the performance, the cousins went to a local McDonalds where Kady tried to use the women’s bathroom, which was occupied so she returned to the dining area. That’s when two men — a 19-year-old Black man and a Latino-looking 16 or 17-year-old — who were sitting nearby called her a f*****. Ugh.

As the teenager was being provoked, she eventually called them out on the slur, telling them they had no right to call her that. After confirming she was a lesbian, one of the men hit her in the jaw while the other attacked her from behind. WTF.
She blacked out from the violence, and her 13-year-old cousin, scared and unsure of what to do, watched as the men held Kady down, stomped on her, and kicked her in the face. She told ABC News:
“They were trying to kill me.”
The teen came to seconds later, per LGBTQ Nation, but she couldn’t see through her swollen eyes. She grabbed someone’s denim pants near her and begged them to “Call 9-1-1.” She explained that while she was unconscious, a restaurant manager tried to stop the attack, but they were also allegedly assaulted by the assailants. Awful.
When the two girls who were in the restroom emerged, it was clear they were with the attackers. Rather than step in and help, they allegedly grabbed Kady and her cousin’s phones, stole Kady’s wallet, and fled the scene.
What is wrong with people?!
The teen couldn’t recall much of what happened next, except she said police ultimately arrived on the scene and told her that those involved would be charged — and that stands to be true.
According to WMAQ, the 19-year-old man has been identified as John Kammrad and he has been charged with aggravated battery, great bodily harm, aggravated battery in a public place, mob action, and more. He was taken into custody on Saturday.

The day before, his friend, a juvenile, turned himself in. The girls are also expected to face misdemeanor charges for theft. The state’s attorney’s office is investigating the case and may add more charges, such as hate crime, they announced in a press release on Wednesday.
Kady told LGBTQ Nation she was rushed to the hospital after the attack with blood coming out of her eyes and mouth and covered in bruises from where she was held down. She also suffered a broken nose, which continues to bleed, and she is facing bodily aches and pain that make it challenging for her to work. Doctors believe her eyes will make a full recovery, but she still finds it hard to rest her head on a pillow because of how much pain she is in.
The good news is she insisted she has the full support of her family (and she always has). This violence is understandably really difficult for her parents. She told the outlet her dad was so upset over the incident and found it hard to look at her due to the extensive injuries. Her mother, on the other hand, was brought to tears. They now all want justice, and in that effort, Kady set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for medical bills and a lawyer to press charges. As of this writing, she has raised over $40K — well beyond her $5K goal.
Sharing what she hopes people take away from this incident, she told the outlet:
“This should have never happened just because I am the way I am, and it should have never happened just because I was just trying to use the bathroom. But I don’t want people to be scared to stand up for themselves because they think that someone will hurt them all the time. I want to be seen as someone that is strong because they tried to ruin my life, but instead, they ruined their own.”
Kady also said this has inspired her to go after her dream of becoming a police officer, reflecting:
“I’m not going to let myself be put down by something like this.”
Such an incredible takeaway from this terrible attack, especially for someone so young!
On the fundraising page, she shared graphic images of her injuries, including an image of her icing her head with tons of scraping and bruises on her face while she was still in the hospital. She also included some close-ups of her bloody eye and more bruises. It’s truly horrifying and heartbreaking to see. See (below):

It’s so devastating to think this teenager was simply trying to use the bathroom and this happened. We’re sending her so much love and wish her well on her recovery.
