Meta has laid off over a hundred people in its gaming and AR/VR divisions

Bloomberg reports this weekend that Meta has made over a hundred redundancies. These forced departures mainly affect the Reality Labs division, which handles the hardware and software for the company’s virtual reality headsets.

But that’s not all: Oculus Studios, which designs games for these devices, is also affected. Meta spokesperson Tracy Clayton reports that several teams have undergone "structural and role changes that have had an impact on the size of the workforce".

The redundancies are designed "to help the studios work more effectively on future mixed reality experiences for our growing audience, while continuing to provide quality content for existing users".
