Court Denies DDG’s Restraining Order Request Against Halle Bailey

*A court denied rapper DDG’s emergency motion to stop his ex-girlfriend, actress Halle Bailey, from traveling to Italy with their 17-month-old son, Halo, for an upcoming film project.
DDG, whose legal name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., filed for a restraining order claiming Bailey posed an “imminent emotional and psychological risk” to their child. In court documents, he cited an alleged incident from August 2023 in which Bailey, during a heated argument, threatened to take her own life using his legally owned firearm. He claimed she left the house with the gun without his permission, and he later found her outside “emotionally unwell, incoherent, and potentially suicidal.”
He also said she sent alarming text messages threatening self-harm and implying their son could be in danger as well. DDG argued that taking Halo out of the country would remove the child from court protections and limit emergency intervention options. However, on June 4, the judge ruled against his motion, according to reports.
Bailey, 25, is allowed to proceed with her travel plans, accompanied by family members and a nanny to care for Halo during the production. In a filing approved on May 15, she assured the court of this arrangement, stating, “I have family and a nanny who will be traveling with me to care for Halo while I am working.”
This ruling comes amid an ongoing legal dispute. In May 2025, Bailey obtained a temporary restraining order against DDG, accusing him of physical and emotional abuse. She alleged that he once slammed her head into a steering wheel and frequently called her demeaning names, such as “b**ch” and “evil.”

As part of that order, she was granted temporary physical and legal custody of Halo, while DDG was ordered to stay at least 100 yards away from both of them. That order expired at the June 4 hearing.
Bailey has also requested that DDG’s visits with Halo be supervised, limited to six hours a week, with a professional monitor while the child is in Los Angeles. She further asked that he not be allowed to take their son outside the state.
The former couple began dating in March 2022 and ended their relationship in 2024. Their son was born in December 2023.
