John Cena Tries To Be A Hero In Peacemaker Season 2 Trailer

What a difference a month makes, eh? With Superman flying high at the box office for the DCU and The Fantastic Four: First Steps following hot on its heels to give the MCU a timely pre-Doomsday boost, the great superhero fatigue discourse that’s dominated social media in recent years has suddenly abated. Which is just as well, because at this past weekend’s San Diego Comic Con, DC Studios’ head honcho James Gunn capped off a star-studded Peacemaker panel — which, may we add, featured bit-committed mensch John Cena in full helmeted costume — by dropping the official trailer for the hotly anticipated Season 2. If parallel Earths, morally dubious heroes, and scorching hot needle drops are your thing, then check out the new teaser below;

Ozzy Osbourne on the soundtrack? Check. Cena’s Chris, Eagly, and the 11th Street Kids — Leota Adebayo (Danielle Brooks), Vigilante (Freddie Stroma), Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland), and Steve Agee’s John Economos — back and badass as ever? Check. An inter-dimensional portal to a pocket universe that brings Peacemaker face-to-face with, well, Peacemaker, offering the ultraviolent anti-hero a chance to potentially break good once and for all? Triple-check! Yeah, we’re thinkin’ Christopher Smith is back. And, what’s more, it looks like the new series — set just a month after the events of Superman — is setting Smith on a collision course with Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo), who’s still very much grieving the death of his son (played by Joel Kinnaman in Gunn’s The Suicide Squad) and seeking vengeance upon Peacemaker. All that, and we know — thanks to the first teaser — there’s another super gang on the block this time out, too: The Justice Gang, headed up by Nathan Fillion’s impeccably douchey Guy Gardner and introduced to thrilling effect in this summer’s Superman.

Can the 11th Street Kids keep Chris in their universe? Is a Justice Gang shaped opening for our man Peacemaker just a pocket universe away? And, most importantly, where can we get that lovely floral shirt parallel Earth Chris is rocking in this trailer?
