The queen of “The Rachel” hairstyle is back — and this new layered cut might be her most wearable yet. Jennifer Aniston debuted her fresh chop in an Aug. 3 Instagram video promoting the latest launch from her haircare brand, LolaVie, the Powder Perfect Dry Shampoo ($25). Her new style features soft, face-framing layers that curve inward, offering a more laid-back, grown-up nod to her iconic “Friends” era look.

Known as the “C-shape” or “curve cut,” the style is defined by rounded layers that begin near the jawline and arc gently toward the face, mimicking the shape of the letter C. While the cut has made waves on social media for the past year, Aniston’s version feels especially timely: it’s flattering, easy to maintain, and perfect for summer’s final stretch.

The C-shape works on a wide range of hair types and lengths. On thick or long hair, it helps remove weight and create movement while on finer or shorter styles, it can add volume and the illusion of length. What sets it apart from other alphabet-inspired cuts is its emphasis on soft, face-framing layers over bold structure. “The C-shape heavily affects face framing, whereas the V-shape is mainly sharp layering, and the U-shape is a rounded look with the longest hair in the middle,” celebrity stylist Xavier Velasquez previously told Popsugar.

Velasquez adds that the most iconic C-shape cuts came from the ’90s — “think Jennifer Aniston in “Friends'” — and recommends styling the look with a classic blowout. Start with a volumizing primer, like the Virtue Volumizing Primer ($40), and use a large round brush to shape each section inward for a smooth finish.
