Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness are officially ending their marriage.
Nearly two years after the couple announced their amicable separation, Furness, 69, has filed for divorce from Jackman, 56, in New York. Her attorney Elena Karabatos has also filed paperwork regarding healthcare coverage for the family. The terms are uncontested but still require a judge’s sign-off. (The Daily Mail first reported the news.)
Representatives for Jackman and Furness didn’t immediately respond to Entertainment Weekly‘s requests for comment Tuesday.
Jackman — the Emmy-, Grammy-, and Tony-winning actor who’s also known for playing the clawed superhero Wolverine — met Furness, a fellow actor from Australia, while making the 1995 TV prison drama Correlli. They wed the following year and had two children, who are now adults: 25-year-old Oscar and 19-year-old Ava.
Jackman and Furness publicly revealed their split in September 2023, saying in a statement, “We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth.”
They said their family “has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives.”
Less than six months before their breakup, the Deadpool & Wolverine star had marked their latest marriage milestone by publicly professing his feelings for his wife.
“I love you Deb,” Jackman wrote. “Today is our 27th wedding anniversary. 27 YEARS!! I love you so much. Together we have created a beautiful family. And life. Your laughter, your spirit, generosity, humor, cheekiness, courage and loyalty is an incredible gift to me. I love you with all my heart.”

When they split, a source close to the former couple told PEOPLE that they were both “devastated.”
“It was not a snap decision — they took a lot of time and consideration of everything, and they made this decision together,” the source said. “They are going on separate journeys, but they will always be a family. They’ll always be co-parents and best friends.”
Since the separation, Jackman has been romantically linked to actress Sutton Foster, his costar in the 2022 Broadway revival of The Music Man.
