Hear ‘Frozen’ stars Kristen Bell, Santino Fontana reunite on new song

More than a decade after they first finished each other’s sandwiches in Frozen, Kristen Bell and Santino Fontana have teamed up once again for another delicious duet.

The actors — who voiced Princess Anna and Prince Hans, respectively, in the 2013 animated film — recently reunited to perform “Dinner,” a song from Adam Gwon’s Off-Broadway musical, All the World’s a Stage. The duet marks the pair’s first collaboration since they sang “Love Is an Open Door” for the Oscar-winning Disney film.

The song sees Bell trying her best to convince Santino to grab a bite to eat with her. “I’m not proposing marriage,” she prefaces. “I’m not down on one knee / I’m not composing wedding vows designed by ESP / I’m not plotting some adventure / I won’t kidnap you by force / Trust me before we rent a U-Haul, there’s an appetizer course / Just dinner.”

It’s not exactly a convincing argument — at least, at first. “Wow, if I was a romantic, I’d be seriously disappointed,” Santino dryly retorts in response to her slightly intimidating invite.

However, by the end of the track, Bell has gotten Santino on board. “So what do you say? An unremarkable, unpleasant, borderline disastrous night out, your treat?” She asks him, to which he nods and responds, “Dinner.”

Directed by Jonathan Silverstein, All the World’s a Stage is running through May 10 at Theatre Five in New York City. The musical tells the story of Ricky Alleman, a “gay high school teacher in small-town 1990s America” who “knows exactly what part he needs to play,” a synopsis reads.

However, “when an offbeat student enlists his help to win a statewide theater competition, his efforts tangle with the local church, and Ricky’s carefully compartmentalized life starts to unravel.”

On the Frozen front, Bell is set to reprise her role as Queen Anna of Arendelle in two forthcoming sequels. Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed in a 2023 interview with Good Morning America that original Frozen creator Jennifer Lee was “hard at work with her team at Disney Animation on not one but actually two stories.”
