Greg Gutfeld recalls Jimmy Fallon drunkenly destroying his cigarette

In his debut appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Fox News star Greg Gutfeld shared his very memorable first meeting with the host — though Fallon has no memory of the encounter at all.

To be fair, Gutfeld says the meeting happened about 15 years ago, and both he and Fallon were “wasted” at the time. The comedian and panelist on Fox News’ The Five explained that he entered a bar in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of New York City and saw Fallon, who gave him a very effusive greeting.

“I see you, and you look at me, and your eyes just kind of explode,” Gutfeld recalled. “And you run towards me, and you tackle me, like you’re a giant Golden Retriever,”

After he and Fallon wrestled for a bit, Gutfeld says he got up and lit a cigarette, which the future Tonight Show host did not care for at all.

“You come over to me, and you grab it and you crinkle it, and you go, ‘These things will kill you,’ and you threw it,” Gutfeld told Fallon.

When he protested because cigarettes are expensive, Gutfeld says Fallon “looked sad” and immediately decided to make things right. Watch him recount the hilarious full story below:

Gutfeld appeared on The Tonight Show to promote his new game show What Did I Miss?, which premiered in May on the Fox Nation streaming service. The game places four players in isolation for 90 days and then quizzes them on recent headlines — some true, some false — to see if they can determine which news is real, and which is fake.

The concept behind What Did I Miss? is perfect for our current political era, Gutfeld explained, because headlines have never been more unbelievable.

“With Trump, you can’t tell [what’s true or false],” he said. “Imagine somebody says to you, ‘True or false: The President demands an annexation of Canada.’ But it’s Trump.”

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
