Gran Velocita is the latest mobile racing sim to go for full realism, coming soon

For car enthusiasts, it must be infuriating playing many racing sims. After all, with your intricate knowledge of the inner workings of cars, how fun can OutRun really be? Trick question because it’s the greatest of all time. But if you really want a racing sim that adheres to realism, then Gran Velocita may be the upcoming release for you.

Even for a major studio, what Gran Velocita is attempting to undertake would be impressive. Doubly so for what looks to be a first-time release, as Gran Velocita seeks to reproduce an immense number of real-world physics in this immersive racing sim.

That means tyre wear, temperature, grip loss, engine wear, brake fade and more will all affect your performance as you take control of cars in numerous real-life racing classifications. From Street to F1, these cars are lovingly crafted to emulate the real thing as closely as possible while offering their own handling and tuning.

Gran Velocita bills itself as a complex racing sim for fans ‘who don’t own a rig’ and I’ve no doubt there are plenty of you out there already intrigued. With online multiplayer, the ability to tune your car to perfection just like in pro simulators and telemetry, replays, strategies and endurance racing mechanics, Gran Velocita is jam-packed with features.

At the same time, my only concern is that this might be a bit too much, and something so ambitious is inevitably going to be a huge undertaking. Win or lose, when it releases July 30th (according to the App Store), we’ll be able to find out whether it measures up.
