Gran Turismo 7 Gets 3 New Cars and 3 New Events in Update 1.60

Gran Turismo 7 lancia rally car

Developer Polyphony Digital has released a new update for racing game Gran Turismo 7. The update, numbered at 1.60, brings with it three new cars, as well as three new events. Check out the trailer showcasing the contents of the update below.

The headlining car for the update is the ‘92 Lancia Delta HF Intergrale Rally Car. Along with the iconic WRC championship-winning car, the update also brings with it the ‘87 Citroën BX 19 TRS, as well as the ‘21 Peugeot SUV 2008, bringing in a total of three Europe-leaning cars.

The ‘92 Lancia Delta HF Intergrale Rally Car has been described by the developer as the pinnacle of the Lancia Delta thanks to its 6 consecutive WRC wins. The Rally Car version brings with it the improved handling thanks to revisions to its body reinforcements and suspension, as well as the rear-leaning torque split of its 4WD system.

In its description of the Citroën BX 19 TRS, the studio explained that it brought in improvements to the company’s line-up of cars while also retaining what made it “Citroën-esque”. This means that it included features that were (for the time) considered modern.

“Much thought was also put into the mechanicals,” wrote the studio. “While many models had begun to share more and more parts with Peugeots, the BX featured the signature hydropneumatic suspension. This system uses nitrogen gas and oil instead of conventional coil springs and dampers. This allows for the ride height to be adjusted freely and also creates the unique feel of a Citroën.”

The studio also notes that the Citroën BX 19 TRS added to Gran Turismo 7 is a ground tourer-style model that makes use of a 1.9L gasoline engine. While lacking a bit in horsepower compared to its contemporaries, the engine allows the car to stay lightweight, which couple with its aerodynamic design to achieve higher speeds.

Rounding off the new cars is the more modern ‘21 Peugeot SUV 2008. Built on the same CMP platform as the company’s ‘208’ hatchback line-up of cars, the 2008 features a unique driver layout that makes use of a small-diameter steering wheel with a flattened top and bottom, as well as a digital instrument panel.

As for the new events, there are three new options in World Circuits – Sunday Cup: Willow Springs International Raceway: Streets of Willow Springs Reverse, European Sunday Cup 400: Watkins Glen Short Course, and World Rally Challenge Gr.B: Colorado Springs – Lake.

Along with this, the update has also brought with it improvements to the Gran Turismo Sophy AI racing agent, with the AI being usable on the Alsace – Village courses through Quick Race and Custom Race modes. Rounding off the update is the addition of Scotland as a location for Scapes.

Gran Turismo 7, available exclusively on PS5, was originally released back in March 2022. Since then, the game has gotten a number of updates bringing not only new content like cars and tracks, but also bug fixes and new features like support for the PlayStation VR2 headset.
