Ghost of Yōtei Deep Dive Outlines Exploration, Clues, Altars of Reflection and Much More

Sucker Punch finally provided an extensive look into Ghost of Yōtei, its long-awaited sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, in a new State of Play. The story takes place in Ezo, where Atsu returns after 16 years to hunt the Yōtei Six and avenge her family.
Throughout the experience, players can experience her memories with a single button press and learn more about her journey. The hunt takes players across the edge of Japan, and co-director Jason Connell promises the most player freedom yet for a Sucker Punch game. You can set about engaging in combat, exploring the land or experiencing the story, but you’ll discover clues that facilitate different goals along the way.
If you interrogate someone and choose the Oni card, it may lead to an area rife with enemies. However, selecting the Kitsune card will lead elsewhere with unique upgrades (and potential ambushes). Atsu becomes rather infamous in the region, attracting deadly foes, but she can also pursue bounties and earn money. While exploring the land and following Golden Birds, you’ll discover Altars of Reflection that unlock new abilities.
Of course, you also have a Spyglass to mark locations to explore (though cartographers also sell Traveler’s Maps to unlock a portion of the landscape). While racing through the landscape, hitting flower streams can provide a speed boost. Other notable activities include the return of Bamboo Strikes to increase Focus, sketching the landscape, and hot springs (which should increase max health).
Ghost of Yōtei launches on October 2nd for PS5, retailing for $69.99. Check out the Collector’s Edition here, which includes The Snake’s armor set, a custom horse and saddle, a gold Sword Kit and physical items.
