- Squid Game is set to make a surprise collab appearance in Garena Free Fire
- Dive in and take on iconic competitions inspired by the series
- Fans in America can keep their eyes out for real-world competitions as part of the crossover
For better or worse, Hwang Dong-hyuk’s Squid Game has gone from a biting satire of the modern world to a bona fide global sensation. With that comes the somewhat at-odds swathe of tie-ins, marketing and, of course, collabs. But whatever your opinion on it, no doubt many of you will be pleased to find out that Squid Game is making a surprise appearance in Garena Free Fire!
Yes, hot off the heels of Free Fire’s eighth anniversary celebrations (still ongoing, so check those out), the deadly games themselves are arriving in Garena Free Fire to mark the premiere of Squid Game’s third and final season on June 27th.
Kicking off on July 14th, you’ll be able to engage in the many classic competitions such as Red Light, Green Light, and stake it all to win. You’ll also be able to suit up with the signature outfits, equip themed accessories and even make use of iconic voicelines as part of the crossover.
Winner winner, squid dinner
Not only that, but Free Fire will be taking the crossover into the real world with a new challenge across the United States. Free Fire’s Ddakji Master Challenge, inspired by the Korean game in the series, will run from July 16th to 27th.
Fans in Dallas, Houston and Miami will see their tile-flipping skills put to the test, with the fan who gets the highest count across all states walking away with a reported cash prize of $4,560. Considering this isn’t the first time Free Fire has crossed over with Netflix (Money Heist being the first), it’s clear that they’re still pulling out all the stops.
