Bet this is something Bill Hader will never let go of: getting fired for ruining the ending of Titanic to a bunch of sorority girls at a movie theater.
Hader recalled the story during an appearance on Netflix’s Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney during the aptly titled episode “Getting Fired.” Mulaney asked the Barry Emmy winner if he’d ever been fired, and Hader told him he had been on multiple occasions, but one firing incident in particular stood out.
“I got fired from a movie theater for ruining the end of Titanic,” Hader told him. “I was working in a movie theater, and Titanic hadn’t come out yet, and a sorority had bought out the movie theater, and they were in the doorway, and I was going, ‘Hey, guys. Can you guys move?’ They were making fun of me. They said I looked like Charles Manson, which I kinda did; I had a little bowtie on and cummerbund, and I was like, ‘Hey guys, please move.’ And they were like, ‘No.'”
He continued: “So when they went in, as I tore the tickets, I was like, ‘Enjoy the movie. The boat sinks at the end. Leo dies.’ And they were like, ‘No, he doesn’t.’ I go, ‘Yeah, you think he’s asleep. But he’s frozen.’ And that showed them.”

Mulaney then asked if he got fired on the spot, and Hader said that he did, concluding, “The [manager] came down smiling, and he was like, ‘Hey, Bill. I have to fire you.’ He loved it. Couldn’t look me in the eye, though.”
The ending of the James Cameron classic is one of the most debated ever. At the end of the film, Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) saves his love, Rose (Kate Winslet), by letting her have all the room on a rather large floating hunk of wood leftover from the wreckage of the massive ship. Left in the freezing water by her side, he quickly succumbs to hypothermia after saying his tearful goodbyes. Fans, the stars themselves, and even the Mythbusters team have all posited ways in which Jack could have survived in the years since the film’s release in 1997.
