‘Full House’ stars recall failed attempt to get selfies with Ryan Gosling

Full House chums Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber struck out trying to get a photo with Barbie star Ryan Gosling, despite Sweetin having previous interactions with the three-time Oscar nominee.

Speaking on a recent episode of the duo’s podcast How Rude, Tanneritos!, Sweetin, best known as Tanner middle child Stephanie, confessed her eternal stanship of country music star Dolly Parton (her birthday twin, coincidentally) and said the singer is the only person with whom she is quite so obsessed.

Barber, who played the Tanner family’s next-door neighbor, Kimmy Gibler, reminded Sweetin that she should probably add Gosling to that list, which reminded her of a story.

“Remember I asked for a selfie, or I tried to get to him for a picture at the scleroderma benefit a million years ago?” Barber asked, referring to a charity event that their late costar Bob Saget was closely associated with. “For you. I did this for you,” Barber continued. “And I got stopped by security!”

“Well, we knew each other. We met as kids and had stayed in contact,” Sweetin said.

Mickey Mouse Club, or something?” Barber asked, referring to the early ʼ90s Disney show that both Sweetin and Gosling appeared on.

“Right!” Sweetin said, also recalling a time she ran into him at a Whole Foods grocery store. “So [at the benefit,] I was like, ‘Oh, we’ll go get a picture.’ But there was no way to do it low-pro, and he had, like, a bazillion security [people] there.”

“He was sitting by Teddy,” she continued, likely referring to Tahj Mowry, the actor who played Tanner friend Teddy on Full House. “So we went to go say ‘hi’ to Teddy, and then it just it just got awkward.”

“So awkward!” Barber remembered.

“But I made it more awkward when I peeled out. I leave you guys — I’m like, ‘Bye!’ And I make a left because I’m like, Oh my God. This is just — I don’t even know what’s happening. I need to get out of this uncomfortable situation. So I walked to the left only to realize — there is no exit there, and I have to go then walk back by — like an idiot — and find the exit! I was like, God, it can’t even make a smooth exit.
