Peacock’s upcoming Friday the 13th prequel series with A24 has found its pre-machete wielding Jason Voorhees.
Callum Vinson (Long Bright River, the Chucky series) will play the young serial killer on Crystal Lake, joining the previously announced Linda Cardellini, who boarded the A24-produced series as Jason’s mother, Pamela Voorhees.
Plot details still remain under wraps, but it’s been described as an “expanded prequel” series. The show’s title, of course, refers to the fictional summer camp location where the grief-stricken Pamela, a camp cook, went on a murderous rampage against counselors upon believing that her son had drowned in the lake as a child.

Betsy Palmer originated the role in the first 1980 film from director Sean S. Cunningham. The alive Jason would go on to avenge his mother’s ultimate death by wreaking havoc against camp attendees across 12 films.
Nick Cordileone, Joy Suprano, Danielle Kotch, and Phoenix Parnevik have also joined the young Vinson in recurring roles. Previously announced series regulars include William Catlett, Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins, and Gwendolyn Sundstrom.
Brad Caleb Kane (It: Welcome to Derry) took over as showrunner, executive producer, and writer last summer following the exit of Bryan Fuller, who cited creative differences for his departure. Victor Miller, who penned the screenplay for the first film and various sequels, remains on board as executive producer, joined by fellow EPs Marc Toberoff and Rob Barsamian.

“From the moment I watched Jason Voorhees squeeze a guy’s eyeball out of its socket (in glorious 3D!) at the tender age of 8 years old, I knew my creative path was someday destined to converge with The Man Behind The Mask,” Kane said in a statement at the time. “Nothing defined my childhood more than growing up in the golden age of the slasher flick, and nothing’s defined the genre more than Friday the 13th.
“I couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity to contribute a chapter to this iconic franchise, particularly with such fearless partners as Peacock and A24,” he added.
