FragPunk developers publicly apologize after mocking Spectre Divide closure

FragPunk developers publicly apologize after mocking Spectre Divide closure

The video game industry is a volatile one, with studio closures and game shutdowns occurring almost weekly. As a result, companies tend to stick together.

But this was not the case with Bad Guitar Studio (FragPunk), who openly mocked Mountaintop Studios, the company behind Spectre Divide which will be closing down soon enough. On X, Bad Guitar shared a meme under the post announcing the demise of Mountaintop and its game. The image, featuring Captain America, was subsequently deleted (but was recorded by Internet users).

The creators of FragPunk were forced to apologize for what can only be described as a tasteless joke. The studio acknowledged that its message was "inhumane and unprofessional", while adding that it "does not reflect our studio’s values or respect for colleagues in the industry".
