For the RTX 5050, NVIDIA will use GDDR6 memory by Samsung and SK hynix

The RTX 5050 will indeed use GDDR6 memory, as confirmed by NVIDIA in a recent update sent to its partners. This means the rumors of a possible switch to GDDR7 were wrong.

The main supplier of these memory modules will be Samsung, while SK hynix is also expected to step in at a later date. The card bears the model number PG152-F01, associated with SKU 50.

For the moment, the exact frequency of GDDR6 memory has not been specified. By way of comparison, some RTX 40 cards (such as the RTX 4070 or 4060 Ti) use GDDR6 at 17-20 Gbps.

If the RTX 5050 follows this trend, its memory bandwidth would be between 272 and 320 Gb/s, some 29% less than that of the RTX 5060. The card is scheduled for launch in July.
