*One of my favorites in Toyota’s lineup, the 2025 Toyota 4Runner TRD Sport keeps impressing and shows off with a few fun updates and accents. I love the size, the rugged ride and classic look. Let’s get into it.
The Look: The 2025 4Runner TRD Sport showcases a bold exterior with big papa 20-inch alloy wheels and a TRD honeycomb mesh grille, giving its distinctive presence on the road.
LED fog lamps enhance its sporty look, along with its classic boxy frame.
Inside, everyone gets to enjoy the SofTex-trimmed seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, providing a comfortable and upscale environment for both driver and passengers.
I loved the seats so much that I wanted to take several long drives. My favorite feature, which might not be available in all trims, is the colored accents inside. See the video.
The Drive: Under the hood, the TRD Sport is powered by a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 278 horsepower. I don’t find the 4Runner to be super quick on the draw but it’s got a little pick me up in sport mode. It’s a rugged and fun vehicle and moves like an off road ready truck.
Driving in the city is just fine, but you might feel most bumps and dips. Equipped with the sport-tuned suspension and TRD-specific shocks, drivers are ready for some light off-road trails. With a towing capacity of up to 6,000 pounds, the TRD Sport is well-equipped for hauling needs as well.
The Tech: The 2025 4Runner TRD Sport comes equipped with an 8-inch multimedia touchscreen, supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Toyota’s Safety Sense 3.0 suite is standard, featuring Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection. Additional features include a Qi wireless charger, which I am a big fan of because of its positioning. It’s angled at a slant, making it easy to see the screen if necessary while ensuring the phone gets charged. Passengers can also stay charged up too with access to multiple USB-C ports throughout the cabin.
The 2025 Toyota 4Runner TRD Sport successfully combines traditional SUV ruggedness with modern amenities. Its refreshed design, fun drive, and dependable Toyota technology make it an all around great package.
