Epic Games makes its second wave of FTC-ordered refunds related to Fortnite

Back in 2023, Epic Games found itself at the heart of a lawsuit accusing the company of deceptive practices to force players to spend money in Fortnite. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) ordered the American company to reimburse those affected to the tune of $245 million.

After a first round of refunds last December, a second round of refunds begins this June. To be eligible, you must file a claim before July 9, 2025. It is also necessary to have been affected by unauthorized credit card charges or even to have disbursed in-game currency for unwanted items. Those who have had their account blocked when disputing unauthorized charges can also file a claim.

In total, this second wave will reimburse approximately $126 million of the $245 million claimed. Since $72 million was already paid out last year, the third and final salvo will be in the region of $47 million.
