Dua Lipa (Finally) Confirms Her Engagement to Callum Turner

Between two concerts and a round trip between two time zones, Dua Lipa found the time to say “yes.” Not at the altar, but in the pages of British Vogue where the 29-year-old singer confirmed her engagement to British actor Callum Turner.

“Yes, we’re engaged,” she said with a smile.

A few simple words to make the year-and-a-half-long relationship official. Fans have been curious since Christmas, when the “Levitating” singer showed off an imposing diamond on her left ring finger. This was no marketing tease, Turner did indeed have a ring custom made, after consulting with Dua’s nearest and dearest, her sister Rina and close friends.

The piece? A round diamond mounted on a thick cigar band. The ring is an exception in the world of star jewelry, a far cry from the classic solitaires so often seen in Hollywood. Dua, for her part, says she is “obsessed” with the jewel, which “looks just like her” – the ultimate proof, she believes, that her future husband “really knows her.”

Callum Turner, for his part, is more than an actor who stars in the Fantastic Beasts saga, which extends the Harry Potter universe, or The Boys in the Boat directed by George Clooney. He is also, according to Dua, a life partner with whom she shares everything from Sade and Erykah Badu playlists to the conviction that a lasting couple never separates for more than two weeks at a time. “This decision to grow old together, to be best friends forever… it’s a really special feeling,” she said.

But romantics beware: wedding planning hasn’t begun just yet. “I want to finish my tour, Callum is on set… we’re making the most of this time,” explained the star, who is currently on the road for her Radical Optimism tour, which will wrap up in Mexico in December. “I’ve never been one to dream of weddings. But now I find myself thinking, “What would I wear?”” she said.

When asked about starting a family, she answered candidly. “I think it’s just one of those things that will happen when it happens. I love kids, but I think there’s so much more to raising a child than just loving kids.” On the eve of her 30th birthday, which she will celebrate in August, Dua Lipa claims a new feeling of self-confidence. “I feel invincible”, she assures us, a confidence she now seems ready to share with her partner – ring on her finger, smile on her lips and a visibly radical optimism.
