Doomsday’ cast assembles for ‘Thunderbolts*’ watch party

In the middle of saving (or trying to destroy) the world, the Avengers: Doomsday cast assembled for a star-studded screening of Thunderbolts*. Gotta love that Marvel synergy!

On Friday, Robert Downey Jr. and Simu Liu shared the first official looks at (most of) the Doomsday lineup together for a very special watch party, featuring Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Channing Tatum (Gambit), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm/the Thing, debuting in The Fantastic Four: First Steps), Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, also debuting in First Steps), Winston Duke (M’Baku), and Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson/Captain America).

With the amount of shaved heads in the photos — count ’em, there’s multiple! — it’s more like the Avengers: Domesday cast watched a screening of Thunderbalds*. We have to imagine it’s much easier to wear wigs, helmets, and masks without hair getting in the way.

“Just wow!!! Dinner and a show with the Old Avengers,” Downey, who is returning to Marvel after Iron Man’s death to play titular villain Doctor Doom, captioned his photos on Instagram. “So cool, fresh, and deep. Big congrats. #thunderbolts”

Meanwhile Liu, who plays Shang-Chi, joked in his Instagram caption, “it’s movie night with the boys… get your tix!! #thunderbolts*”

Production on the next major MCU event film kicked off in March, and the studio confirmed the long roster of returning stars with a five-and-a-half-hour livestream.

In addition to the previously mentioned actors who attended the Thunderbolts* screening, returning cast members for Doomsday include Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes/the Winter Soldier), Letitia Wright (Shuri/the new Black Panther), Wyatt Russell (John Walker/U.S. Agent), Tenoch Huerta Mejia (Namor the Submariner), Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Kelsey Grammer (Hank McCoy/Beast), Lewis Pullman (Bob/Sentry/Void), Danny Ramirez (Joaquin Torres/Falcon), Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm/Human Torch), Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic), David Harbour (Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian), Hannah John-Kamen (Ava Starr/Ghost), and Tom Hiddleston (Loki).

The biggest announcements were saved for last, with more X-Men stars officially joining the fun: Patrick Stewart (Charles Xavier/Professor X), Ian McKellen (Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto), Alan Cumming (Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), and James Marsden (Scott Summers/Cyclops).

Joe and Anthony Russo are back to direct Avengers: Doomsday and the follow-up movie, Avengers: Secret Wars.

Doomsday will arrive May 1, 2026, and Secret Wars will debut May 7, 2027.
