Did Megan Thee Stallion Throw Shade In ‘Whenever’ Song?

The temperature is going up, and so is a new song by Megan Thee Stallion! The Hot Girl Coach released ‘Whenever’ on Friday (April 25), and social media is chattin’ about the music’s artistry and her SPICY lyrics. Could it be shade, but at whom? That remains to be answered by Megan! However, the internet streets are seemingly wondering whether tea is brewing from the booth!

Megan Thee Stallion Slays New Music Video
As mentioned, Meg included an official music video with her single release. Nearly three minutes long, Thee Stallion pops off from the jump in ‘Whenever,’ rapping, “24 hours in a day and the first thing y’all h**s do is start hating.” Meanwhile, the video shows her in a half split, cosplaying as a secretary while spitting her heat! The second scene, a little under 30 seconds in, shows Megan inside a fish tank, still in the same reception area of an old-school designed office space. Her third music video scene is an iconic black and white shot of the Houston rapper mostly nude, with a sleek tape-meets-gown look.

A fourth scene change shows Thee Stallion in her cowgirl look with custom jeans, two-piece serving thighs, a flat tummy, and cleavage with a custom cowgirl hat! After introducing those scenes, the video flipped between them, except for a close-up of an 8-ball and a pool table play. Peep the full video below!
These ‘Whenever’ Lyrics Stood Out As SPICY!
While that’s a lil’ recap of the scenes in the video, let’s get into the lyrics that have social media side-eyeing and hinting at shade. Some fans have speculated that Meg also threw jabs at influencer Olivia Davis, who got wrapped up in racist accusations after talking about Torrey’s “type” being…well, white.
In the first verse Megan spits: “Make no mistake, just ’cause I’m cute in this b***h don’t mean I won’t run in your sh*t. Yeah, it’s smoke, whenever the ho see me out, she already know what I’m on (Ah). Flip-flop hoes actin’ fake, I’ma chip-chop. Say she don’t know me, she fanned out on TikTok. B***h, stop, thinkin’ you ate, should’ve been quiet. Can’t get your ho back ’cause he with a pimp now. No d**k can’t make me argue with no b***h.”
While it’s not certain, those lyrics above could be tied to an incident involving a woman and Megan’s new boo, Torrey Craig. In January, a woman claimed she’d been exchanging intimate messages with the NBA player during his romance with Thee Stallion. He, of course, seemed to shut down the rumors, while Meg paid them no mind. Did that change with ‘Whenever?’ Hmm, time might tell.
For context, Megan Thee Stallion is currently suing a blogger whom she claims Tory Lanez paid to run a defamation campaign against her from behind bars. He’s serving a 10-year sentence for shooting at the Houston Hottie in July 2020 after being convicted on three felony charges. A recent court filing accuses Tory of being “disruptive” and intentionally trying to railroad a deposition for Megan’s lawsuit. In verse two of ‘Whenever,’ Megan Thee Stallion seemed to shade Tory Lanez.
“Locked up, been threw away the key, n****s still stalkin’ me (Ayy). Out of sight, but still on you h**s’ mind (Yeah)”
Also, in verse two, Megan goes IN about her pen game, and other women do not appreciate her loyalty. Again, our Houston sis didn’t name-drop anyone, but the bars are turning heads! So far, no other female rapper or others have stepped to the front to claim the apparent shade. Peep the lyrics for yourself below.
“Who they compare to me? If they say the ho hot, then she better be. If she write her own sh*t, then we finna see (Hmm). N****s know that my pen never out of ink. I love when I hear that a b***h don’t like me, stalk my IG. This pretty face on her FYP (Her FYP). Been done with it, but the b***h still typin’ (Aw). Keep goin’, ’cause that sh*t hype me (Ah). Hangin’ with opps, you a chop (Chop). Do your thing, but that ain’t how I rock (Hmm). You hoes don’t appreciate loyalty. I don’t act funny, b***h, I act accordingly.”
