Several ex-Metal Slug devs want to bring back a GBA game that ended up not releasing

Let’s go back in time to the days of the Game Boy Advance. The team in charge of the Metal Slug franchise was then working on Navinosuke: The Yo-Kai Buster. Development was completed, but the title ended up not coming out.
It’s now 20 years later, and Kohachi Studio, an indie studio made up of veterans of Metal Slug and R-Type, is set to complete the project. Navinosuke: The Yo-Kai Buster will be released on Switch in 2026.
According to Shinano Ishiguro, the studio’s director, it’s “a pixel game that was finished 20 years ago, but was never announced". It’s "a Japanese-style 2D pixel role-playing game in which you travel with over 150 yokai".
Further details will be announced shortly.
