Deus Ex Go, Hitman Sniper and more top releases return to mobile

  • Deus Ex Go, Hitman Sniper and Tomb Raider Reloaded are back on mobile
  • They’ve returned under the administration of Deca Games
  • It marks a turnaround for many of these that had been ditched

Back in 2022 one of the less welcome stories we had to cover was that of Studio Onoma, otherwise known as Square Enix Montreal, and the delisting of many of their top releases. Deus Ex Go, Lara Croft Go, Hitman Sniper and more fell under the axe when Embracer bought the company.

However, in a surprising turnaround the aforementioned entries in their catalogue, and a whole lot more, have made a return to mobile. This includes others such as Tomb Raider Reloaded and Lara Croft: Relic Run which were previously delisted only a few years ago.

It marks a surprising turnaround and a welcome return. The catalogue looks to be administrated by Deca Games, a German developer also under Embracer who seem to have made it their business to keep fan-favourites supported, such as Star Trek Online which they took over from Cryptic Studios.

The Go series was a distinct and standalone series of puzzlers that translated their parent series to mobile in a surprising way. By translating them to a pseudo-puzzler format, it allowed Square Enix Montreal to translate their parent series that might otherwise not have been able to fit on mobile.

For those who are enthusiastic about preservation, this is a red letter day as well because it means that those of us who have had these releases sat on our mobile devices for a while (such as myself). And for the rest of us, who might’ve been missing these top games that were caught up in the recent Embracer storm, it’s proof these releases can make a return.

Speaking of puzzles though, if you feel like the Go series still won’t be much of a challenge why not dig into our list of the top 25 best puzzle games on iOS and Android, for our own personal selection of brain-busting challenges?
