Detroit rapper Skilla Baby returns to stage 2 days after being shot

Detroit rapper Skilla Baby didn’t waste any time getting back onstage after surviving a drive-by shooting.
On Saturday, the 26-year-old, whose real name is Trevon Gardner, shocked fans with a surprise appearance at 42 Dugg’s Masonic Temple Theatre show in their hometown.
In fan-recorded footage of the concert, the crowd went wild when the local rapper arrived on stage, with his arm in a sling. Skilla Baby took in the applause and rapped a few verses before turning things back over to 42 Dugg.
One TikTok user called his comeback “the biggest flex,” while another wrote, “Performing injuries and all? They not keeping him down.”

Skilla Baby’s return to the stage comes a mere two days after he was hospitalized for sustaining multiple wounds in a drive-by shooting. According to the Redford Township Police Department, Gardner was injured on Thursday when which over 20 rounds were fired toward the vehicle he was driving, prompting him to crash.
Police were called to the scene around 7 p.m. after an SUV crashed into a building in the Eight Mile Road and Beech Daly area, said a statement from police. A witness took the wounded driver to a local hospital.
The Redford Township Police Department and representatives for Skilla Baby did not immediately respond to Entertainment Weekly‘s request for comment.

Police later confirmed Gardner’s identity to several outlets, sharing that the rapper “suffered three non-fatal gunshot wounds before crashing his vehicle,” according to CBS News. Gardner was grazed in the head and shot in the leg, per police.
Hours later, on Friday evening, police confirmed that Gardner was in stable conditions and expected to “make a full recovery.”
