Dawn Robinson is finally responding to Jermaine Dupri nearly two weeks after he questioned her living situation. Dawn Robinson Says THIS In Response To Jermaine Dupri
Robinson shared her thoughts about Jermaine Dupri’s comments during a video interview with Angela Yee. She eased into her clapback at the producer by saying that people heard what they wanted to versus what she said in the video. For example, she mentioned that she researched car life, and weighed all her options before making the ultimate choice.
Then, the singer called out people who pointed out her physical upkeep, like having her fingernails painted. Angela Yee then mentioned Jermaine Dupri’s comments about Dawn having an assistant while living in a car.
“For that comment, I was like first of all I’ve only met him once in my life. I remember being around, but not directly meeting him,” she said. Adding, “…I was shocked. Artist to artist…we don’t attack each other like that. You would swear that he knows me directly, and he knows my story. It’s like where are you coming from? But it was a shock, and some people just have to be negative and he doesn’t know my story so he’s assuming. Instead of reaching out to me directly…”

Recap Of What Dupri Said About The Singer
As mentioned, Jermaine Dupri weighed in after Dawn revealed that she had been living in her car for the past three years. In her video announcement earlier this month, Robinson revealed that she chose her lifestyle amid shaky finances and conflict while staying with her mother. She added that living in her car felt like “the right thing to do” and that she had no regrets or victim mentality about it.
Still, her moment of honesty inspired a wave of mixed reactions from social media users and celebrities, including Jermaine. At the time, Dupri called out certain parts of Dawn Robinson’s testimony, including her having an assistant while unhoused.
“Ain’t no way she got an assistant and she ain’t got no money. When you ain’t got no money and you out here doing what you gotta do, you out here doing s**t by yourself,” Jermaine said on-camera. “You moving around by yourself. Ain’t nobody getting ready to sit up under you and just kick it for nothing.”
The producer added that Dawn’s story “don’t make sense” because a broke person wouldn’t be able to afford an assistant. He added, “I don’t know if she broke, she might not have all the money she want in the world but she’s definitely not broke saying she has an assistant.” See everything he said below, and keep scrolling for Dawn’s apparent clapback.
