CZ’s Giggle Academy Adds Voice Recognition and Rewards in Latest Update – CryptoMode

Giggle Academy, the educational app backed by former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao, has released version 1.9.0, adding features aimed at improving engagement and usability for kids, according to an announcement from Zhao on social media.

The update introduces enhanced voice recognition explicitly designed for children, allowing them to interact with lessons using spoken responses. The new feature could help younger users who aren’t comfortable with typing or tap-based navigation use the platform more efficiently.

Another addition is a “reward center,” where kids can earn points — not crypto — for completing activities. The move distances the app from the founder’s crypto roots while tapping into gamification as a teaching tool.

Also included in the release are user interface upgrades to the storybook section and a new H5 referral page to support mobile-friendly signups.

Zhao’s Giggle Academy Keeps Growing

So far, Giggle Academy reports 8,217 registered child users. The platform offers 38 lessons and 21 storybooks, CZ said, focusing on early childhood education. The former CEO of Binance has framed the project as a long-term initiative to provide free, accessible education, particularly for underserved communities.

While still early in development, the project signals Zhao’s shift toward social impact ventures following his exit from Binance in 2023, when he stepped down as part of a settlement with U.S. regulators.

Last year, the former Binance CEO made a post outlining his plans to incorporate AI features into the academy. However, he acknowledged that the process hasn’t been easy, as he’s faced numerous challenges. When asked if he would implement AI, Zhao responded:

“Yes, we will definitely include many AI-assisted features.”
