Nintendo details free improvements to Switch games on Switch 2

When it goes on sale on June 5, the Switch 2 will offer a number of new experiences and features. Thanks to backward compatibility, it will be able to play most Switch games and even run most of them better than the first console.

While there will of course be paid upgrades, others will be free. And it’s the latter that the Japanese manufacturer wanted to focus on today. Indeed, now we know the nature of the upgrade for each of these titles, all available on Switch 2 on launch day.

  • 51 Worldwide Games: GameShare compatibility with 34 games playable by four.
  • ARMS: improved image quality, optimized frame rate and HDR support.
  • Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain: GameShare compatibility on four-player multiplayer mode.
  • Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker: improved image quality, optimized frame rate, HDR support and GameShare added on all levels.
  • Video Game Workshop: optimized graphics and compatibility with Joy-Con 2 mouse mode.
  • New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe: optimized graphics for improved image quality.
  • Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet: improved image quality and optimized frame rate.
  • Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury: improved image quality, optimized frame rate, HDR support, GameShare added and local or online sharing via GameChat.
  • Super Mario Odyssey: optimized graphics, HDR support, GameShare and GameChat compatibility.
  • The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom: optimized graphics and HDR support.
  • The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening: optimized graphics and HDR support.
