Tom Holland reveals ‘Spider-Man 4’ title at CinemaCon, says film is ‘fresh start’

It’s a brand new day for Peter Parker.

Tom Holland revealed the official title for the upcoming Spider-Man 4 at CinemaCon in Las Vegas via pre-recorded video: Spider-Man: Brand New Day, from director Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Just Mercy), swings into theaters July 31, 2026.

“I am so sorry I can’t be with you. I am halfway around the world shooting a movie,” said Holland, who will next star opposite Spider-Man costar and girlfriend Zendaya in Christopher Nolan’s star-studded The Odyssey, in the pre-recorded video. “I know we left you with a massive cliffhanger at the end of No Way Home, so Spider Man: Brand New Day is a fresh start. It is exactly that. That’s all I can say.”

“That’s all I’ve been allowed to say,” reiterated the web-slinger, who has become notorious for spilling the beans on Marvel secrets. “And I’m well over the hump of giving away spoilers, so don’t be worried. I’m not going to do that today. But thank you for your support. It’s always a joy and I will be back next year, hopefully.”

The third installment, 2021’s No Way Home, indeed ended with a cliffhanger after Holland’s Peter Parker/Spider-Man broke open the multiverse. He asks Doctor Strange to cast a spell to make everyone forget his identity and Peter Parker himself. Plot details for Brand New Day is still under wraps, but Zendaya (who plays MJ) and Jacob Batalon (Ned Leeds) are expected to return.

It’s unclear what other Marvel characters will pop up, but Stranger Things breakout Sadie Sink recently joined the cast in an undisclosed role. The rumor mill, however, is convinced that she will play Jean Grey, the telekinetic and telepathic member of the X-Men.

Speaking to audiences at CinemaCon, Cretton — taking the reigns from Jon Watts, who helmed the first three films — said the team was hard at work and teased an “emotional” story. “I’m spending my time exploring the next stage of this amazing character with a team of the most incredible artists in the world,” he said. “We’re all, just daily, nerding out over the suit, how to swing, how to create an event, an emotional story, and a ride that we haven’t really seen before.”
