Morale is low at Electronic Arts

Tension is palpable within the Electronic Arts teams. Several hundred people were laid off in April, and the American publisher has just closed Cliffhanger Games following the cancellation of Black Panther.
Respawn Entertainment, the studio responsible for Star Wars Jedi and Apex Legends, has lost 100 people and two of its projects have been cancelled. Of course, team morale is far from high.
On Bluesky, Patrick Wren, who is Senior Encounter Designer on Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, declared that "morale has never been lower. I can tell.“. Wren also said he felt "sorry for anyone who just wants to make cool video games in this industry”.
The purge may not end there, given that EA now wants to focus on a small number of successful franchises.
