Claressa Shields Details 2026 Plans for Baby with Papoose

*Claressa Shields is taking a page out of her boxing playbook with preparing for motherhood in 2026.
The two-time Olympic gold medalist and undisputed world champion recently broke down her plans to have a baby with her boyfriend, rapper Papoose, during a recent appearance on The Pivot Podcast, revealing that plans are set to start working on a family.
For Shields, the strategy is along the same lines as one she would use inside the ring against an opponent who is out to take her title.
“I’m gonna have a baby next year,” she said. “We already had it planned out. I’m gonna have baby next year.”
Judging by her steady and intentional tone, Hot 97 noted how serious Shields was in detailing her approach. As the interview continued, the 30-year-old athlete voiced her intent to return to boxing before exploring further plans to expand her family.

“And then after I go through my stuff, then I’ll come back and fight and fight some more, and then probably have another one and then do the same thing again,” she added.
For Shields, age does not factor into her plans after her boxing days. It’s more about maintaining her physical self so she will be around to experience her kids growing up and doing things with them as they live their lives.
“Like, I don’t want to wait till I’m 40, 43, or whatever, after my career, to have my kids,” she voiced.” I want to be able to run at the park with my kids and stuff like that. I want to be too old.”
“I don’t drink, I don’t smoke—,” continued Shields, who credited her clean lifestyle for preparing her for what’s to come with bringing children into the world and raising them.
She added: “I think that’ll also help me too when I’m going through this body- and life-changing stuff next year.”
