Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has one of the highest user ratings ever on Metacritic

While Metacritic is far from a perfect aggregator, it’s pretty useful to take the pulse of what some Internet users think about the quality of a work of entertainment.

For example, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is already the best-rated game of 2025 by the press, with an average score of 92%. But this may not be the only record Sandfall Interactive’s title has achieved.

As noted by Forbes journalist Paul Tassi, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 now boasts an average of 9.7/10 from users (out of 921 reviews). While it’s impossible to check every Metacritic page one by one, we can still say that this is one of the best scores in history.

The RPG does better than legendary titles such as Final Fantasy VII (8.9/10), The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (9.1/10), The Last of Us (9.2/10) or even Baldur’s Gate 3 (9.2/10).
