This is certainly the case with Chaos Zero Nightmare, an upcoming iOS and Android release that’s promising a haunting dark fantasy narrative that’ll push you and your characters to their limit.
Coming from developer Smilegate, Chaos Zero Nightmare sees the world overtaken by the titular Chaos, called The Blue Pot. As you might expect, this spreading chaos includes horrible beasties trying to destroy humanity, and plenty of stress landing on the Agents trying to combat it.
While there’s definitely your cast of typical anime girl protagonists for your character (the Protos) to command, and standard turn-based combat, just a glance at the gameplay shows a much grimmer take than is on offer with many others in the genre.

Whether it be the disturbing creature designs, the fact that your agents could be torn apart at a moment’s notice, or just the general atmosphere, Chaos Zero Nightmare does look to be well on the way to delivering a dark fantasy experience. According to the App Store, Chaos Zero Nightmare is slated for an October release. It is currently available for pre-registration on iOS and Android.
