Beyond the Spider-Verse’ first look

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is officially slinging into a theater near you in 2027.

Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson, the directors of the highly-anticipated conclusion to the massively-popular trilogy, revealed a series of dazzling first-look stills, a release date, and more information about the film at Monday’s Sony presentation at CinemaCon 2025.

They were joined by Phil Lord, the producer behind the animated entries in Sony’s illustrious catalog of Spider-Man screen adaptations. The trio noted that the film will pick up right where 2023’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse left off, naturally. Hero Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore) has become a fugitive from every other Spider-Man, and his rag-tag gang of friends, including Gwen Stacy (voiced by Hailee Steinfeld), may not be enough to save him as he faces off against his counterpart Miles G. Morales (Jharrel Jerome), a.k.a. the Prowler.

Persichetti and Thompson referred to the film as a “massive finale to the trilogy meant for the biggest screens.”

The exciting conclusion of the Spider-Verse saga will officially release on June 4, 2027.

A teaser shown at the event cut together plenty of scenes from the prior two Spider-Verse films, wrapped up in a bow with lots of voiceover from Moore’s Miles. At the end of the teaser, Miles confidently intones, “Nah, I’m gonna do my own thing” as he flies off into the ether.

2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse kicked off one of the most popular and profitable trilogies in cinema history, and pushed animation to the forefront of the cultural conversation. The films follow young Miles as he learns how to become the new Spider-Man and grapples with clashes across multiple parallel universes.

The films bend time, reality, and push the limits of animation — a feat that has grossed the series over a billion dollars worldwide already.

Meanwhile in the parallel universe of the live-action Spider-Man films, the cinema’s current web slinging star, Tom Holland, confirmed that Spider Man 4 is “good to go” for a planned 2026 release date. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton will direct.

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will premiere in theaters on June 4, 2027.
