The Blood of Dawnwalker’s Dual Playstyle and World Design Detailed in Extensive Gameplay

Rebel Wolves unveiled extensive gameplay for The Blood of Dawnwalker, its upcoming open-world dark fantasy action RPG. The footage is from a work-in-progress pre-beta version, recorded in-engine on PC, and follows protagonist Coen in the midst of a quest.

He ventures to Vale Sangora’s largest city to learn more about a powerful weapon hidden in a cathedral. While exploring the world, you can venture to ancient ruins, sabotage vampire blood transports, or battle some bandits.

Coen is a half-vampire, so during the day, health won’t regenerate (which is a challenge since Hexes consume HP). Fortunately, you can eat food to gain health. At nighttime, you can feed on human NPCs and wild creatures to restore health.

Hunger level corresponds to your health bar and every night, Coen starts hungry. You can also decide how much to drain, whether it’s enough to knock someone out or kill them. Just make sure they’re not an important NPC or else there will be consequences.

Depending on the damage you cause, guards will become more suspicious. It’s up to the player whether they challenge the vampire lords openly or lay low, waiting for their chance. While traveling through the city, you’ll witness random conversations between NPCs and even the Uriash, a different race of creatures. The goal is to venture to the castle of Griefberg to save Coen’s family, and this is possible early, but it’s very challenging. Different community scenes can be experienced, which point to new quests or hidden treasures.

The Blood of Dawnwalker launches in 2026 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Head here for more details, including how you can skip meeting entire factions during the story, and stay tuned for more updates.
