‘Bachelor in Paradise’ moves to Costa Rica, adds Hannah Brown

When Bachelor in Paradise returns for season 10 this summer — after being off the air for more than a year — fans can expect quite a few changes.

ABC announced this week that the long-running spinoff of The Bachelor will be headed to a new exotic locale: ¡Adios, Mexico, y hola, Costa Rica! That’s right, rose lovers — Paradise is saying goodbye to the Playa Escondida hotel in Sayulita, Mexico, the picturesque and crab-covered beachfront hotel that has hosted many a love story since the series’ premiere in 2014.

The network did not release any additional details about the Costa Rica location. But let’s pray it has air conditioning, folks, because as we learned during the Bachelor finale in May, this season of Bachelor in Paradise will include singles from The Golden Bachelor/Bachelorette. And there is no way Bachelor Nation will stand for it if producers make those adorable and sexy seniors sweat it out in open-air bedrooms like the ones contestants had at Playa Escondida.

So far, ABC has announced five members of the Bachelor in Paradise season 10 cast: Zoe McGrady from Grant’s season of The Bachelor; Hakeem Moulton and Jonathon Johnson from Jenn’s season of The Bachelorette; Leslie Fihma from The Golden Bachelor; and Gary Levingston from The Golden Bachelorette.

In addition to the new location and the addition of Golden singles, the new season of Paradise will have something called a “Champagne Lounge,” where former Bachelorette Hannah Brown will preside during rose ceremonies. And no, I don’t know what any of that means, either. (To quote ABC’s press release, Brown will be “bringing the bubbly to rose ceremonies in the all new Champagne Lounge.” Your guess is as good as mine.)

But don’t worry, rose lovers — not everything is changing. Jesse Palmer will return as host, and Wells Adams will be back as bartender/shoulder to cry on. No premiere date has been set, but Bachelor in Paradise is expected to premiere this summer.
