If you were with us in April of last year they you may remember us mentioning a quirky little strategy RPG called Isekai Dispatcher. Well, now, the developers behind that interesting, retro take on the ‘trapped-in-another-world’ genre have decided to do something a little bit calmer and cutesier, with kitten-themed match-three Ash & Snow, which comes to mobile on May 15th.

As far as match-three releases go, this is exactly what you would expect. You match up coloured blocks, clearing as many as possible to raise your score, while occasionally getting power-ups in order to clear it faster and-or get more of said points.

What it’s really selling itself on are the titular two mascots: Ash & Snow. These adorable felines will be an omnipresent companion as you’re solving puzzles, be that on the main screen or in the top left corner watching you at work (or play in this case).

I’ve no doubt that it’ll be a competently-made release, especially as its coming from an established developer. But, at the same time at a time when we’re so used to having match-three puzzlers that offer some sort of strange and interesting hook on a well-trodden genre, the presence of two kittens is almost quaint in comparison. Although, lets be honest, cats (and, recently capybaras) as characters definitel seems to equal game sales, especially when it comes to mobile.

With only a month to go until Ash & Snow’s release, and with details a little light on the ground, we’ll be sure to keep our eyes peeled for any more information on it ahead of launch.
