Anna Camp calls Rebel Wilson ‘most supportive’ of her coming out

Anna Camp is feeling aca-supported by Rebel Wilson.

The You actress said that her Bride Hard costar, who also acted with her in all three Pitch Perfect films, has been a particularly valuable friend after coming out.

“Rebel and I go back so many years — something like 14 years, we’ve known each other — and she’s been the most supportive out of everyone of me coming out,” Camp said in an interview with Cosmopolitan. 

Camp recently went public with her relationship with Jade Whipkey, an on-set stylist who is 18 years her junior. “We’re definitely surprised by all of the attention, to be totally honest,” the actress told the same outlet. “We’ve been a bit surprised by all of the hubbub, but there’s been a lot of support so we’re very grateful and thankful for everybody who is supportive of us. It’s lovely.”

The actress addressed the age gap between her and Whipkey in an Instagram post last month. “I’ve dated men exactly my age and Jade is FAR more mature than any of them,” Camp wrote. “We have more in common than anyone else I’ve ever dated and can literally talk about anything and everything. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I’m wishing everyone well 🙂 Especially this Pride month.”

Wilson — who came out herself in 2022 and is now married to wife Ramona Agruma — discussed the joy of reuniting with Camp on-screen in Bride Hard in an interview with Entertainment Weekly last month.

“I do love that I got to work with you again,” the actress told her costar. “And it was better at times, because there was a lot of scenes, just us. And then in Pitch Perfect, there’s like 10 of us girls in the scenes.”

Camp agreed, noting that her friendship with Wilson strengthened over the course of shooting their new film. “When you’re on location with somebody, you want to be able to get along with them and have fun. And we really, really had a great time filming, and I just feel like we’re even closer friends now,” she told EW. “And we’re friends with all the other girls as well. And so it was just such a good bonding experience. I love a good girl-power movie.”

Wilson also said that she and Camp caused a ruckus on the Bride Hard set. “We’d do these pranks where we pretend to get injured or electrocuted on set,” she recalled. “And we’d fool people because our acting is so good. And it would just crack us up because we’d know what we were doing, but nobody else would ever.”

Bride Hard, which also stars  Anna Chlumsky, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Stephen Dorff, and Justin Hartley, is out now.
