All about the stars of Netflix’s new series

  • Sirens stars Julianne Moore as the mesmerizing billionaire Michaela Kell.
  • Meghann Fahy and Milly Alcock costar as sisters swept up in Michaela’s life of glamour and privilege.
  • The five-episode series is now streaming on Netflix.

The new Netflix series Sirens takes inspiration from the sirens of Greek mythology, reinterpreting their mellifluous song as something more complex than mere temptation.

“We only hear the sirens described by men,” said creator Molly Smith Metzler (Maid) in a making-of featurette for the streamer. “We never hear their point of view, that maybe their song is a song of pain. That maybe they’re incredibly lonely and misunderstood. That maybe there’s a whole other side to this story of why these three women are doing what they’re doing.”

The sirens of this series, adapted from Metzler’s 2011 stage play Elemeno Pea, are played by Oscar winner Julianne Moore, Emmy-nominated White Lotus actress Meghann Fahy, and House of the Dragon breakout Milly Alcock.

Moore plays a billionaire philanthropist, Michaela, who hires Alcock’s Simone as an assistant, much to the chagrin of Simone’s working-class sister, Devon (Fahy), who believes something is off about her sibling’s new boss.

Of the central trio, Moore said, “All have experienced profound mother loss. All seem to be in somewhat complex relationships with men, [and they’re all taking] responsibility for things that maybe the men are responsible for.”

With the five-episode dramedy now streaming on Netflix, let’s take a look at who’s playing who with Entertainment Weekly‘s Sirens cast and character guide.

Julianne Moore counts an Academy Award, two Golden Globes, and two Emmys on her mantle, having established herself as one of this generation’s most dynamic actresses in films like The End of the Affair (1999), Far From Heaven (2002), The Hours (2002), and many more.

Moore has worked with many of the best filmmakers of the last half-century, including Robert Altman (Short Cuts), Paul Thomas Anderson (Boogie Nights, Magnolia), Lisa Cholodenko (The Kids Are All Right), Alfonso Cuarón (Children of Men), Todd Haynes (Safe, May December), and many more.

You may also recognize her from franchise hits like The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Parts 1 and 2 (2014–2015) and Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017), as well as TV series such as 30 Rock (2009–2013) and Lisey’s Story (2021).

Moore’s Michaela is mysterious, commanding, and beyond wealthy, described in the trailer and elsewhere as someone with the ability to charm into subservience.

Metzler described Moore’s Michaela as living in a world of “magnetism.” She added, “Everyone in the show is pulled towards her. She created her own universe and her own rules, and she’s made herself the queen of it all. And this power that she has, that she pulls the community around her, she gets people excited about what she’s excited about.”

Milly Alcock as Simone DeWitt

Australian actress Milly Alcock is best known as the young Rhaenyra Targaryen in HBO’s House of the Dragon (2022–2024), though she was previously nominated for an AACTA Award for her turn in the Aussie comedy Upright (2019–2022). Alcock has since been cast by DC Studios as its new Supergirl and will lead the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.

Alcock plays Simone, a young woman of meager means who becomes enchanted by the upper-crust life of her new boss, Michaela.

“Simone goes through a very big journey throughout the show,” Alcock explained in Netflix’s featurette. “As an audience, we see her trauma. It really reels in that question of, ‘Who is your family?’ And what do you owe a family that’s hurt you?”

Speaking with Tudum, Fahy said of her costar: “Milly is talented in such a natural way. She is moving with you in a way that is so beautiful to see. From the beginning, we easily fell into this sweet sisterly bond. And we still have that.”

Meghann Fahy as Devon DeWitt

Meghann Fahy’s career began on daytime soap One Life to Live (2010–2012), but soon branched out to Broadway (Next to Normal) and films like Those People (2015) and Miss Sloane (2016). She found fame as a lead on Freeform’s The Bold Type (2017–2021) and landed an Emmy nomination for her layered turn on The White Lotus season 2 (2022). She recently starred in the Blumhouse thriller Drop (2025).

Fahy plays Simone’s frazzled, unkempt sister, Devon, who she described in the featurette as a “caretaker” who had to “give up a lot of personal pursuits to take care of her younger sister.” As such, she can’t let go of her paranoia that Simone may be in some kind of danger working for Michaela.

“I have played so many glamorous characters that I was really nervous nobody would want to let me try anything else,” Fahy explained to Tudum about what appealed to her about the role. “So it was really exciting to get to step into that space with Devon.”

Kevin Bacon as Peter Kell

Since debuting in 1978’s Animal House, Kevin Bacon has been one of Hollywood’s most consistently reliable screen presences, nimbly hopping between comedy (Picture Perfect, Crazy Stupid Love), drama (JFK, Mystic River), suspense (Flatliners, Tremors), horror (Friday the 13th, Stir of Echoes). And we’d be remiss not to mention his twinkle-toed turn in his 1984 breakout, Footloose.

He remains a busy actor, having recently appeared in Ti West’s MaXXXine (2024), the belated Beverly Hills Cop sequel Axel F (2024), and the Amazon Prime series The Bondsman (2025).

Bacon stars in Sirens as the oft-stoned Peter, husband to Michaela’s mesmerizing billionaire. The series reunites Bacon with director Nicole Kassell, who collaborated with him in 2004’s unsettling drama The Woodsman.

Glenn Howerton as Ethan Corbin III

Glenn Howerton is responsible for one of the funniest and most consistently surprising performances of the last 20 years as It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s unhinged Dennis Reynolds. He still hasn’t been nominated for an Emmy.

Howerton did, however, receive a slew of awards and nominations, including a nod from the Independent Spirit Awards, for his blistering turn in 2023’s Blackberry. He also generated acclaim as the lead of the late, but beloved, A.P. Bio (2018–2023).

Howerton’s Ethan is the (much older) boyfriend of Alcock’s Simone and a close friend of Michaela and Peter. The actor described Ethan as “a bit naive and oblivious at times” to the New York Post.

Of the project itself, he said, “I had never read anything quite like this script, tonally. It’s like a suspenseful drama, but it’s also really funny.”

Josh Segarra as Raymond

Josh Segarra made a splash with recurring roles on series like Chicago P.D. (2014–2016), Arrow (2016–2019), and Orange Is the New Black (2018–2019), as well as films like Trainwreck (2015) and Overboard (2018). He played puppy-dog Lance on HBO’s delightful The Other Two (2019–2023), and recently played key roles on shows such as She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022) and Abbott Elementary (2024–2025).

Segarra plays Raymond, a married man who’s also in an unfulfilling relationship with Devon.

Felix Solis as Jose

Felix Solis has been a regular presence in film and on TV since the mid-90s. He’s well known for recurring roles on series like The Following (2014–2015), Colony (2016), and SEAL Team (2018). He cast an ominous shadow as cartel leader Omar Navarro on the Netflix hit Ozark (2020–2022), and has since been a key figure on The Rookie (2022–2024) and The Rookie: Feds (2022–2023).

Solis plays Jose, Michaela’s longtime head of security. He’s also a close friend and confidante of her husband, Peter.

Bill Camp as Bruce DeWitt

Bill Camp received an Emmy nomination in 2016 for his affecting turn on HBO’s The Night Of. He went on to appear in several acclaimed films (Joker, Passing) and series (The Outsider, The Queen’s Gambit). He’ll appear in the upcoming season of HBO’s The Gilded Age, as well as in anticipated new films from Kelly Reichardt and Nicholas Stoller.

Camp plays Devon and Simone’s father, Bruce, who’s struggling with early-onset dementia. Devon’s resentment over Simone’s new gig is partly due to her serving as Bruce’s primary caretaker.
