Alex Cooper booed over ‘Take Me Out to the Ball Game’ performance

Podcaster Alex Cooper’s rendition of “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” was not a home run among baseball fans.

The Call Her Daddy host performed the classic track during the seventh-inning stretch of the game between the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals at Wrigley Field in Chicago on Sunday night, offering an operatic take alongside two backup performers that elicited boos from the packed stadium.

Cooper’s appearance was marketed as Big Al’s Takeover, which featured a special ticket offer for the game that also included a limited edition Chicago Cubs jersey emblazoned with the Unwell logo, the podcaster’s brand and network that spans everything from a production studio to a line of hydration drinks.

She was in the Windy City over the Fourth of July weekend to host a party at Recess Chicago with her line of hydration drinks.

Boos aside, it’s been a banner year for the podcast host, who recently released a two-part documentary, Call Her Alex, on Hulu last month, centered on her journey from bullied child to media empire CEO. Cooper is also set to produce a new dating show for the streamer, working title Overboard for Love, about a group of singles mixing and mingling aboard a luxury yacht.

She launched Call Her Daddy in 2018, a podcast known for featuring candid conversations about sex and relationships with high-profile guests, including former Vice President Kamala Harris, Gwyneth Paltrow, and most recently, Charlize Theron, who made headlines for her musings about choosing to remain single and discovering a new sense of sexual freedom in her late 40s.

“Women who come across as confident and outspoken tend to also be, in bed, people who want to please males. Isn’t it strange?” Theron said. “We should be the ones that are like, ‘F‑‑‑ you, I’m going to have an orgasm.’ My advice would be this: ‘Don’t f‑‑‑ing do that. For two reasons: You’re going to have better orgasms, and your man is going to like that.'”
