AFL fans rip to shreds major issue with Fox Footy’s massive scoreboard graphic: ‘Worst in history’

Small things matter when it comes to the coverage of live sport and — as was the case on Friday night for the AFL opener between the Sydney Swans and Hawthorn — big things matter, too.

And the new graphic of the scoreboard on Fox Footy was savaged by football fans who had tuned in to the pay TV broadcaster, due to the fact that it was gigantic.

High-profile AFL superstar Bailey Smith led the charge, sharing his outrage with his 350,000 Instagram followers

“Get this s*** off my TV,” he wrote and shared a photo of his TV screen.

He circled the graphic and asked the question that everyone was also asking: “Why’s it so big?” he wrote.

He then took immediate action, and it didn’t cost him a cent to do it.

Smith then shared another image to his followers which showed he was now watching the live and free coverage on Channel 7 and 7plus.

AFL fans across social media agreed with the 24-year-old, and they all said the same thing.

“The new Fox scoreboard was designed for pensioners watching the game on an ipad from 3m away,” one fan joked on X.

““This might be the worst scoreboard I’ve ever seen in AFL history,” another said.

And another: “It’s ridiculous! I’m watching the footy, not the scoreboard!”

And another: “My dad was able to read it without his glasses which is a good thing i suppose”

And so it went: “I don’t think I’m a fan of this scoreboard on Fox Footy, it’s too big and long 😏”

Another fan shared a famous image from the game when Lance Franklin was lining up to kick his 1000th goal.

During that iconic moment, a fan at the SCG stood up and briefly blocked the camera that was directly behind Buddy as he went into to take his shot.
