*Stephanie Mills is one of the four iconic headliners on “The Queens Tour,” which kicked off on Friday, May 9, in Las Vegas at the Michelob ULTRA Arena.
At 68, Mills turns out to be the youngest of the queens gracing this tour edition, powered by the Black Promoters Collective, now taking place through May and June, with a break until September and October.
Other participants are Gladys Knight, Patti LaBelle, and Chaka Khan. Mills also looks as good as ever as she says that what makes this tour so great is the amount of love each of the ladies has for one another and how they carry themselves as true queens.
Speaking to “MadameNoire” backstage during the Mother’s Day show at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, the “Home” singer disclosed just how much they love each other.
“We love each other,” she said.
“I’m the baby of the group at 68, but, you know, I’ve always wanted to work with Chaka and go on the road with Chaka, she later added. “So I’m glad that this finally happened. I prayed for this to happen, and it’s finally come true.”
Mills, known for her inspiring performances, was the first Black Woman to portray Dorothy in the Broadway production of “The Wiz.”
She revealed that she sings all the time, never takes things for granted regarding her health routine, and ensures that she’s exercising her vocal chords in the healthiest way possible.
Mills was introduced by her son during the Mother’s Day show. The love shown by his son reminded her of the bond she had with her mother, the late Christine Mills.
She recalled how her mother was outspoken and always told her to be herself and not to listen to other people.
