After five seasons, The Handmaid’s Tale is writing its final chapter with its sixth season.
Naturally, a lot has happened to June and her fellow handmaids and the inhabitants of Gilead in that time. But, praise be, because stars Elisabeth Moss, Madeline Brewer, and Amanda Brugel have teamed up (not unlike their characters!) to catch viewers up on everything we need to remember as we sit down to stream season 6.
From Moss’ June starting the first season as the Waterford family handmaid, to June and Serena ending up as refugees on a train together in season 5, and everything in between, these ladies have you covered in a new video with Entertainment Weekly above.

If an earlier teaser for the final season is anything to go by, a bloody revolution is finally afoot in Gilead. In the footage, which shows handmaids passing switchblades to each other in a church, June says ominously via voiceover, “They believed that these garments that they put on our bodies told the world who we are. To mark us, they put us in red, the color of blood. They forgot that it’s also the color of rage. The dress became our uniform. And we became an army.”
The clip’s release came with an official logline that also previewed a bit of what to expect from each character in this final stretch. It states that the episodes of course once again follow June, whose “unyielding spirit and determination pull her back into the fight to take down Gilead. Luke and Moira join the resistance. Serena tries to reform Gilead while Commander Lawrence and Aunt Lydia reckon with what they have wrought, and Nick faces challenging tests of character. This final chapter of June’s journey highlights the importance of hope, courage, solidarity, and resilience in the pursuit of justice and freedom.” May the Lord open!
